What to do in Puerto Vallarta: Los Veranos Canopy Tour Review
Oh my gosh! If ever you find yourself in Puerto Vallarta, leave the beach and pina coladas behind for a day and head up to the mountain adventure of Los Veranos Canopy Tour. Their 3 hour adventure of 14 zip lines is some of the most fun I’ve ever had!
Los Veranos Canopy Tour is Puerto Vallarta’s original zip-line adventure tour company offering an action packed day that combines the thrill of the canopy tour with the tranquility of a beautiful river valley. With more than two miles of cable in a series of 14 zip lines, many over 1100 feet long and over 100 meters high, this tour was awesome! Their friendly, experienced and bilingual staff gave us a detailed safety briefing, which took us step by step through our upcoming adventure. This definitely helped settle the nerves of some in our group, as there were several in our party that were uneasy with heights and where feeling very apprehensive about the experience they were about to undergo. But once everyone got on the lines, those fears were replaced with the joy of adrenaline and adventure. Of course, it helped that the staff kept us under their care and supervision at all times, making everyone feel comfortable and brave with their jokes and encouragement. These guys really were great at their jobs, and helped make the entire experience more fun.
Without a doubt, Los Veranos Canopy Tour is the most thrilling adventure tour in Puerto Vallarta. They have over a decade of experience and thousands of happy guests. The amazing zip lines had us flying over the Orquideas River and lush jungle, from one tree to another.
Four of the lines were over 1100 feet long and some of the highest lines gave us birds eye views for miles, not that any of us took much time to notice…. we were too busy staring at the river far below while hanging upside down from our cable harness!
Most of the lines had a small hike up the mountain sides, but none of them were bad or very long. The jungles of Puerto Vallarta are hot and humid, so be prepared to sweat. But the rush of the zip lines were well worth any physical discomfort (not that there really was any). I only wish there would have been more water along the way, but at every water stop (only two that I recall), I always felt sorry for the pore sap that had to carry the 5 gallon water jugs up the mountain.
On the last line, they actually had two lines running parallel to each other. They sent us down in pairs to race each other to the finish. I didn’t care much about the race, but I did think is was pretty cool how it ran right over the river, at some points being just a couple feet from the water. The end put us straight into their Tequila Bar and Riverside Restaurant, where they wanted us all to try some of their tequila. I passed on the booze, but I did take them up on a delicious meal and some tasty virgin margaritas. We also had the chance to cool off in the river, and play with the critters and exotic animals at their Animal House.
Los Veranos is absolutely awesome, and I recommend them to anyone of any age.
How to Get to Los Veranos Canopy Tour
Los Veranos makes it easy and convenient to get to them. They have pick up locations all over Puerto Vallarta. They load you into a private bus (air conditioned I might add), and drive you up to the mountain, all the while pointing out the sights in Puerto Vallarta (I loved the cobblestone streets), the bay, and even a large avocado tree by a small mountain village.
Very Tasty Treats at Los Veranos Canopy Tour
After a long action packed adventure, I was feeling very thirsty and fairly hungry. Some in our group went for a dip in the river to cool off, while the rest of us hit the onsite restaurant to refuel. I ordered a virgin lime margarita, which was absolutely delicious. The slush ice of it did wonders to cool me off.
When they brought out the margarita, they also delivered some chips and salsa. They were exquisite. The chips were made from sliced corn tortillas, which made for some very thick and crunchy chips. They were perfectly seasoned with salt, and had a wonderful corn masa flavor. The pico de gallo they were served with was perfect, if even a bit hot. But that heat actually seemed to help me feel cooler in the jungle mugginess.
They had several menu offerings that sounded enjoyable, but we all felt like having nachos, so nachos we ordered. Wow! These were some of the best I’ve had anywhere. They were made from the same amazing chips, and were loaded with perfectly seasoned very fresh refried black beans, pico de gallo, crema, fresh guacamole, and pickled jalapenos. But what really put these things over the edge was the heaping pile of melted gouda cheese on them. This cheese was exceptional. Again, Mexico has the best dairy I’ve experienced. I don’t know what they do or how they do it, but damn!
Los Veranos Canopy Tour is the Best Zip Lining Adventure in Puerto Vallarta
Refueled, relaxed, and cooled off, it was time to say goodbye to our new found friend. We loaded back onto our bus and left with smiles on our faces from an amazing time and great tasting food. Thank you Los Veranos! I will always remember your fun, and recommend you to anyone going to Puerto Vallarta.
