Malaysia is a melting pot of culture and cuisine from all around the world. Strong influences of Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Portuguese, British, and indigenous Malay (known as Nonya) cuisine have come together in a mix of delight that will keep you bouncing from one food adventure to the next. I was like a little boy on Christmas morning finding a new bicycle under the tree as I walked from one food establishment to the next. I can’t remember when I felt this much glee and utter delight.
My home base in Malaysia was their nation’s capitol, Kuala Lumpur. One could spend years in KL and still not get to eat everything it has to offer. But what I did get to experience blew my mind.
